Dog Training That Fits Your Life
My name is Nate Liebermann, and I help people with their dog problems. I got my start in dog training fourteen years ago and received my education from the wonderful Mr. Michael Ellis in Northern California. Since then, I’ve been using that education and the experience I’ve stacked on top of it to help people who love their dogs but are frustrated with what life with their dog currently looks like.
I get calls from people with problems all along the spectrum: puppy potty training, aggression and biting, separation anxiety, table manners, behaving on an airplane, settling under a seat at a coffee shop, walking nicely on a leash, not barking at every person, place, or thing, not barreling over the people they love, and being taken outside reliably without the fear of a dash after a squirrel or a child.
I take people’s dog problems, I solve them, and replace them with a lifestyle enhanced to include things that weren’t possible before: the dog who couldn’t be walked on a leash is now hiked off leash and reliably comes back when called, settles at a coffee shop, and can be made an integrated part of their owner’s day-to-day life.
“He didn’t just train my pup, he TAUGHT ME.”
— Paisley B.
What I Help With
These are some of the problems I help people solve.
Aggression & Reactivity
Lunging at other dogs, biting, fighting at home — from playful scuffles that turned serious to genuinely aggressive fights. More on aggression →
Separation Anxiety
The dog who panics the moment you leave. Barking, destruction, pacing until you’re home. More on separation anxiety →
Leash Skills & Recall
Pulling at the leash, not coming when called, not reliable off leash.
House Manners
Jumping up on people, stealing food, disruptive chewing, barking at every passerby, accidents in the house.
Anxiety & Confidence
Underconfidence, nervousness, the dog who can’t sit still or settle, who barks at everything that makes him feel any sort of way.
Puppy Development
What are we doing now to make sure this puppy becomes the adult dog it’s growing into sooner than you think? Proper socialization — which is not letting them run up excitedly to every new person or dog — methodical exposure to the world (fireworks included), and potty training. The goal is a neutrally reactive adult. More on puppy training →
Integrated Living
There aren’t enough hours in the day to tend to your dog’s needs and your own separately, so the answer is to intertwine them: a dog who behaves appropriately at the coffee shop, the office, the airport — wherever your day actually goes. With great training comes great freedom, and with freedom comes options.
Something I didn’t list?
People call me for every reason there is. If it involves a dog, I’ve almost certainly worked on it. Ask me →
Training Programs
Every program covers the same ground. The difference is who does the work: how much time I’m putting in personally with your dog, and how much homework is left with you between sessions. The more time I put in, the more I can customize, and the less falls on you.
PROGRAM 01
Private Sessions
You, me, and your dog, together almost every session, because in this program the training lives with you between visits. Eight sessions at up to two hours each, in your home. From $1,775.
MOST CHOSEN
PROGRAM 02
Stay & Train
The plug-and-play program. Twelve sessions, and we meet more often: typically two to four sessions a week for the first two weeks, then one to two a week from there, shaped around your dog and your schedule. I do the heavy lifting, then hand off what I’ve built as a finished product. Built for people whose work, family, or schedule makes between-session homework the hard part. Your participation is never required for it to work, and always a plus when you’re in. $2,925.
PROGRAM 03
Board & Train
Booked case by case, for cases that merit it. The program starts before your dog ever comes to me: we work together a couple of times first, because I don’t like a dog being dropped off and shocked by a new environment. And it doesn’t end at pickup — it includes, and requires, follow-up work after your dog goes back home. We’ll figure out on a call whether your case is one of them.
Every program includes unlimited phone and text support between sessions, and follow-up support for the lifetime of your dog.

What Clients Are Saying
★★★★★
“We were turned away by multiple trainers simply because of his breed… Nate was able to successfully train Finn in ways we honestly didn’t think were possible… The biggest win is that Finn actually likes him, which if you know Basenjis is saying a lot.”
Theresa K. — Finn the Basenji
★★★★★
“I had to go out at odd hours just to potty him… Kylo went from reacting strongly to other dogs to calmly walking through busy areas like downtown Culver… Our life in the city has become enjoyable.”
Lauren W. — Kylo the Kelpie
★★★★★
“I’ve been referring dogs to Nate for quite a while through my work with rescue, and I can honestly say he’s worked wonders with some of the toughest cases.”
Maggie F. — rescue referral partner

Call me or send the form, and we’ll talk through what’s going on with your dog in real detail: the history, the household, what you’ve tried, what daily life looks like. By the end of the call you’ll have a clear picture of what I’d work on, which program fits, and what I’d expect the result to look like. No obligation, no sales pitch — just a straightforward conversation. If it’s a fit, we can get started right from that call, and if you’d rather meet in person first, I’m happy to.
